Characteristics of EN10225 S355G5+M Steel
High Strength and Toughness
Yield Strength: ≥355 MPa (at room temperature), meeting the fundamental strength requirements for offshore engineering applications.
Tensile Strength: 470–630 MPa, ensuring load-bearing capacity under extreme loading conditions.
Elongation: ≥22%, demonstrating excellent plastic deformation capability and reducing the risk of brittle fracture.
Low-Temperature Toughness: Impact energy ≥50 J (longitudinal) at -40°C, suitable for harsh conditions in Arctic and other low-temperature marine environments.
Excellent Weldability
Low Carbon Equivalent Design: Carbon content ≤0.12%, sulfur (S) ≤0.005%, and phosphorus (P) ≤0.020%, significantly reducing the tendency for hardening and cold cracking in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) during welding.
Microalloying Elements: Addition of niobium (Nb), vanadium (V), titanium (Ti), etc., enhances weld joint performance through precipitation strengthening and grain refinement, supporting efficient on-site welding.
Corrosion Resistance
Alloying Element Enhancement: Addition of copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), and other elements forms a dense oxide film, providing resistance against marine salt spray corrosion.
Surface Treatment: High-pressure water descaling ensures surface corrosion resistance, extending the material's service life in humid environments.
