Introduction and Application Characteristics of JIS G3114 SMA400AP Steel

JIS G3114 SMA400AP steel is a hot-rolled steel with atmospheric corrosion resistance.

I. Detailed Introduction

Execution Standard: JIS G3114-2004, which stipulates the technical requirements for hot-rolled steel with atmospheric corrosion resistance for welded structures.

Chemical Composition: SMA400AP steel adjusts its chemical composition by adding appropriate amounts of alloy elements (such as copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), phosphorus (P), etc.) to achieve the desired corrosion resistance.

Manufacturing Process: It mainly includes smelting, rolling, and heat treatment. The smelting process adjusts the chemical composition to meet corrosion resistance requirements; the rolling process adopts different processes and parameters according to usage and specification requirements; the heat treatment process adjusts the internal structure of the steel through heating and cooling to further improve mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

Specification Range: SMA400AP steel plates usually come in various specifications, such as a thickness range of 3mm to 150mm, a width range of 30mm to 4000mm, and a length range of 1000mm to 12000mm.

II. Application Characteristics

Atmospheric Corrosion Resistance: SMA400AP steel exhibits excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance, with a weatherability 2 to 8 times that of ordinary carbon steel. This gives it a significant advantage in steel structure applications exposed to the atmosphere for extended periods, such as railways, vehicles, bridges, and towers.

High Strength and Toughness: SMA400AP steel not only has corrosion resistance but also possesses the characteristics of high strength, toughness, plasticity, formability, weldability, abrasion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and fatigue resistance of high-quality steel. These characteristics make it perform exceptionally well in structures subjected to large loads and complex stresses.

Painting Performance: The painting performance of SMA400AP steel is 1.5 to 10 times that of ordinary carbon steel, meaning it provides better adhesion and durability in painting applications.

Economy and Environmental Protection: Due to its rust-resistant properties, SMA400AP steel can extend the service life of components and reduce maintenance costs. Additionally, its application can reduce waste generated by corrosion, benefiting environmental protection.

Wide Range of Applications: SMA400AP steel is not only suitable for traditional architectural structures such as bridges and towers but is also gradually expanding into new energy fields, such as photovoltaic supports. Furthermore, it can be used to manufacture large steel structures like outdoor sculptures.
