Analysis of Yield Strength of ASTM A36/A36M Steel

ASTM A36/A36M is one of the most widely used carbon structural steel standards globally, serving as a fundamental material in construction, bridge building, machinery manufacturing, and general structural engineering.
 
According to the ASTM A36/A36M specification, the minimum yield strength of this steel grade is clearly regulated to ensure structural safety and reliability. For most common forms of A36 steel, including plates, bars, and standard structural shapes with thickness not exceeding 8 inches (200 mm), the minimum yield strength is set at 36 ksi (250 MPa).
For plates thicker than 8 inches (200 mm), the standard adjusts the minimum yield strength to 32 ksi (220 MPa).
