Characteristics of JIS G3103 SB450M Steel Products

JIS G3103 SB450M is a Japanese standard steel plate used for boilers and pressure vessels, with the following characteristics:
Chemical Composition Characteristics
Low Carbon Content: Carbon content (C) is controlled below 0.31%, ensuring good weldability and toughness of the steel plate.
Optimized Alloy Elements: Appropriate amounts of manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), and other elements are added to enhance the strength and hardenability of the steel plate, while strictly controlling harmful elements such as phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) to ensure material purity and performance stability.
Mechanical Performance Characteristics
High Strength: Yield strength is not less than 450 MPa, and tensile strength reaches 510-640 MPa, meeting the strict requirements for material strength in boilers and pressure vessels.
Excellent Toughness: Through reasonable chemical composition design and heat treatment processes, the steel plate maintains good low-temperature toughness and impact resistance while possessing high strength.
Good Hardenability: Superior to ordinary carbon steel, it ensures uniform performance of larger-section steel plates, suitable for manufacturing large pressure vessels.
Process Performance Characteristics
Excellent Weldability: Low carbon content and rational alloying design enable the steel plate to have good weldability, with high-strength welded joints that are less prone to cracking.
Good Cold and Hot Forming Performance: The steel plate exhibits low deformation resistance during cold and hot processing, making it easy to shape and machine, meeting the manufacturing needs of complex-shaped containers.
Stable Heat Treatment Process: After normalization, tempering, and other heat treatments, the steel plate has uniform structure and stable performance, adaptable to different operating conditions.
Service Performance Characteristics
Pressure Resistance: High strength and good toughness enable the steel plate to withstand high-pressure environments, suitable for manufacturing various pressure vessels and boiler components.
Corrosion Resistance: Through rational composition design and process control, the steel plate has certain corrosion resistance, suitable for general corrosive media environments.
